PT Instructor/Advisor - Math & Science (Adult High School Program) Grant Funded
Halifax Community College, as part of a regional consortium, seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach Mathematics and Science in a fully online Adult High School diploma program. This role supports adult learners in completing their high school diploma in a flexible, virtual format.

Responsibilities
The instructor will deliver standard-aligned math and science instruction, support student learning and retention, and help prepare learners for post secondary education or workforce pathways
Provide engaging and rigorous instruction in mathematics and science courses appropriate for high school diploma completion
Deliver courses online using the program’s learning management system(e.g., Moodle or Canvases)
Develop and adapt instructional material that align with North Carolina Adult High School Standards
Foster a supportive virtual classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning needs and adult education best practices
Maintain regular communication with students to encourage courage completion and academic success
Offer virtual office hours and provide individualized support as needed
Work collaboratively with the AHS Program Director and other instructors to address students' challenges and promote retention
Administer and monitor required assessments, including pre=and post-test when applicable
Track and report student attendance, progress, grades and participation in a timely and accurate manner
Contribute data and insights for periodic program evaluations and reports
Participate in team meetings (Virtual or in-person with the AHS Program Director and consortium staff)
Share instructional strategies and coordinate content delivery with other facility members
Maintain open lines of communication with instructional leadership to support program goals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
At least one year of teaching experience in math, science, or education preferably with high school or adult learners
Experience teaching online in an online or hybrid format and using digital instructional tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with program standards and expectations
Preferred
Master's degree in a related field
Current or prior North Carolina teaching license in English, Social Studies, or Secondary Education
Experience working with adult learners, high school equivalency programs, or alternative education settings
Familiarity with WIOA Title II funded programs or North Carolina Community College Adult education systems
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
