Responsibilities

Assist attorneys with evolving tasks and responsibilities, stepping in as needed for IEP meetings, court preparation sessions, hearings, and consultation meetings
Research and analyze the likely outcomes of cases, utilizing knowledge of legal precedents
Draft various documents and correspondence related to special education, including but not limited to client documents, complaints, memorandums, and motions
Communicate with various stakeholders, such as school districts, parents, and other attorneys, via telephone, email, and in-person meetings
Maintain excellent client relationships through effective communication via phone, email, virtual platforms, and in-person interactions
Prepare thoroughly and in detail for each phase of litigation

Qualification

J.D. (law degree)California State Bar membershipSpecial Education experienceIDEAAdvocacy skillsBilingual (Spanish/English)Written communication skillsNegotiation skillsTeamwork abilityIndependent work ability

Required

J.D. (law degree) from an accredited law school
Active member of the California State Bar
Excellent written, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated legal team
Resides within the Los Angeles or Inland Empire areas

Preferred

Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Minimum of 2 years' experience representing clients in Special Education and Conservatorships
Strong knowledge of federal and state laws related to Special Education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
