Surgical Technician III PD

Responsibilities

Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform all aspects of surgical techniques/procedures including Cardiovascular procedures
Demonstrates ability to safely and competently provide care in emergency situations
Contributes to an effective and safe working environment
Serves as a role model and assists new staff members
Serves as a preceptor for new employees/students in the scrub role
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights
Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees
Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations
Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion
Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies
Demonstrates continual development of clinical expertise and current knowledge of healthcare trends and education related to performance
Ability to fulfill the cardiovascular On-call requirement
Ability to be at work and be on time
Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives
Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Assists with unit preparation for magnet
Meets population specific competencies
Participates in department performance improvement
Assist the surgeons with performing invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures
Provides patient care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures under the direction of an RN/Physician
Perform all aspects of surgical techniques/procedures including Cardiovascular procedures
Applies the principle of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to provide quality patient care
Possesses knowledge / skills in all surgical procedures and demonstrates ability to safely and completely use equipment / supplies in the performance of assignment
Possesses knowledge and skills of job specific competencies in the operating room
Other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum of (2) two years surgical technologist experience required
Completion of Surgical Technologist program required
Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
American Surgical Technologists (AST) certification required

Demonstrates ability to safely and competently provide care in emergency situations
