The role includes assessing patient needs, planning and prioritizing care functions, and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided.

Responsibilities

Assesses the need for assisting with neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient care and performing other patient related tasks, recognizing the specific individual needs based on patient age groups unique to assigned unit(s)

Plans and prioritizes patient care functions to meet patients' health care needs

Implements actions that compliment and support nursing care

Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided to ensure quality care and patient related issues are completed in a timely manner

Self-Management. Hold self accountable for delivery of responsible patient care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members

Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures. Participates in equipment in-services and competencies as they relate to role expectations

Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations

Required

BLS: Basic Life Support certification within 1 month of hire or transfer

PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification or equivalent

Current CNA certification for new hires on or after April 1, 2020

Internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or current State of Michigan registry document as a certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan

Successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT)

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

Equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

Fingerprinting credential

High school education or equivalent
