Supervising Deputy Attorney General - Civil Appeals

Responsibilities

Represent the State of Indiana in appeals brought in civil cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Indiana Supreme Court, and Court of Appeals of Indiana
Handle appellate-related matters
Supervise several Deputy Attorneys General as assigned
Confirm deadlines and scheduling for appeals
Communicate with stakeholders regarding appeals
Engage in motion practice, briefing, oral argument, and post-decision review and proceedings
Assist the Section Chief in reviewing briefs and formulating appellate litigation strategy
Coordinate with the litigation division and other areas of the office as assigned
Assist in other cases and proceedings as needed
Conduct research projects and supervise law students
Manage occasional administrative assignments

Required

Admitted to the Indiana Bar
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to relate effectively to both legal and non-legal professionals

Proficient in computer skills
Ability to competently manage relationships and effectively communicate with clients, supervisors, and colleagues
