Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA
Nexlogica is seeking a Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA to lead and support complex database upgrade projects and manage core database products. The role involves planning, installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining databases to support the County's architecture and business needs.

Responsibilities
Lead and/or support complex database upgrade projects
Modify, install, test, implement, maintain, and enhance new or existing system software products
Plan, install, configure, test, implement, and manage core database products
Verify the health of all databases and provide technical consulting for application and operations teams
Perform technical reviews for existing systems utilizing various DBMS
Consult with project development teams to provide recommendations on database design
Develop logical and physical database designs and create physical databases
Conduct database capacity planning and develop backup and recovery procedures
Monitor database performance, space, and perform reorganizations, replication, compression, and partitioning
Qualification
Required
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Programming/DBA, with at least three (3) years of that experience in a lead role
Possession of a bachelor's degree in an IT-related or engineering field
Manage different types of databases, such as hierarchical (IMS), relational (DB2), and file-based (ADABAS)
Plan and upgrade the database environments on a County-established basis
Verify the health of all the databases
Database administration technical consulting for application and operations teams for the purpose of project planning/development
Maintenance on production database systems
Performance of technical reviews for existing systems that utilize one of the following database management systems (DBMS): ADABAS, DB2 or IMS
Performance of evaluations for the purposes of selecting new or fine-tuning existing DBMS software
Consultation with project development teams to provide recommendations on database design
Development of logical and physical database designs
Creation of overviews of logical database designs
Creation of physical databases
Database capacity planning
Development and use of backup and recovery procedures for databases
Database performance monitoring

Preferred
Install, Configure and Support Oracle Enterprise Edition Database 19c as a backend for both public facing web applications and internal data warehousing on Linux operating system
Install and configure MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
Install and Support Microsoft SQL server instances
Configure and support Oracle gateways connecting SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL server instances to the Oracle database
Oracle Spatial implementation and support
Build custom extract, transform and load (ETL) utilities with Crons, SQLLoader and PL/SQL
Provide Database Administration services such as patch install, cloning, backup and recovery of databases and script development (Unix shell scripting and PL/SQL)
Troubleshooting and resolution of ETL Jobs
