Responsibilities

Provide chest x-rays for the detection of tuberculosis disease for individuals with tuberculosis infection and for other individuals in accordance with Branch policies and CDC recommendations

Provide chest x-rays for TB Clinic patients as needed

Perform a wide range of x-ray examinations and procedures in one or more specialized areas in the field of radiology

Work within a framework of well established policies and procedures, exercising judgment in the selection of procedures and techniques

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: The State of Hawaii Requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States

License Requirement for both levels: State positions practice radiologic procedures for chest x-ray and diagnostic purposes and do not practice radiation therapy or nuclear medicine. Therefore, applicants are required to possess a valid license as a Certified Radiographer to practice radiography in the State of Hawaii, in accordance with Chapter 466J, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Department of Health Administrative Rules, Title 11, Chapter 44

Specialized Experience, one (1) year of progressively responsible experience as described below for level II only: For positions involved in the detection of tuberculosis or other chest ailments, the experience must show ability to operate radiographic equipment. For those positions involved in diagnostic x-ray services, the experience must show that the applicant has gained a thorough knowledge of x-ray procedures and/or techniques such as angiograms, mylograms, tomograms, sinuses, etc., including the x-ray of such areas of the human anatomy as the chest, skull, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and vascular system

Supervisory Experience: For positions that supervise, applicants must possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential
