Control Room Technician II (2nd shift) - OFMD
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is dedicated to supporting its medical campus through comprehensive operations and facilities management. The Control Room Technician II will assist with facilities-related operations, monitor building automation and fire alarm systems, and provide emergency response to various campus assets.

Responsibilities
Monitor software, computer, and telephone systems, as well as facilities terminology, to support the monitoring of building automation and fire alarm systems on computer workstations
Provide emergency response to A/BSL3 laboratories, vivariums, data centers, climate rooms, freezer farms, and other various campus assets
Act as the first responder to HVAC events, which may require manually resetting alarms, freeze stats, pressure switches, motor overloads, and performing equipment shutdowns
Change temperature, humidity, and airflow set points as needed
Assist with triaging service interruptions to responsible technicians to minimize system/equipment downtime by documenting impact and creating verbal and written work orders from internal and external callers
Must maintain excellent customer service at all times and be able to distinguish impact, protocols, and need for escalation
Learn and utilize building automation logic to assist with optimizing 32 chillers across 9 chilled water plants to the most efficient configuration, thereby best supporting cooling demand across 26 central buildings. This effort aligns with overall campus carbon emissions reduction efforts while minimizing electrical demand charges
Conduct monthly inspections on elevator equipment rooms and perform Fire Recall testing to ensure proper operation in the event of an emergency
Perform inspections on all campus Fire Suppression sprinkler systems to ensure proper alignment in the event of an emergency
Provide data entry within multiple databases and systems supporting the Facilities Management department. This may include operational logs, work order requests, and updating equipment/inventory
Support continued construction and renovation efforts in facilitating the Hot-Work Permit process by reconfiguring the Fire Alarm Automation systems
Execute approved procedures for equipment operating outside of its designed parameters to support sustained operations
Assist with creating and distributing service interruption notifications that impact our physical assets and infrastructure to responsible staff and campus partners
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
A Class E (MO) or Class D (IL) license and a good driving record are required for this position
Preferred
Technician Certification - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
