Crew Supervisor for Traffic Signs & Pavement Markings
The City of Harrisonburg is seeking a dedicated Crew Supervisor in the Public Works Department to lead and manage a team responsible for technical tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control devices. This role involves supervising and training personnel in routine maintenance activities and ensuring a safe working environment for all road users.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team responsible for technical tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control devices
Supervise and train personnel in routine maintenance activities and the correct use of equipment to ensure a safe working environment
Provide a clearly marked and signed public right-of-way for all road users
Work under the general direction of the Traffic Superintendent and may perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED and considerable (3-5 years) experience in maintenance, construction, or utility work including some supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement
Valid driver's license
Availability to participate in the stand-by rotation, responding to off-hours emergency calls as necessary
Availability to work day, evening, or blended shift work hours, as needed for business necessity
Preferred
Experience in graphic design and utilizing sign-making software is preferred but not required for consideration
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date
Possession of VDOT Intermediate Work Zone certification within one (1) year of hire date, or as class scheduling permits per department approval
Current possession of or ability to acquire IMSA Sign and Pavement Marking Level I certification within one (1) year of hire date and IMSA Sign and Pavement Marking Level II certification within two (2) years of hire date, or as quickly as training/certification is available
