Assists pharmacists in preparing, labeling and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and supplies, receiving, sorting, and stocking medications and supplies
Bills and credits medications to patients

Qualification

Pharmacy Technician LicenseBLS CertificationMedication KnowledgeMathematics SkillsCommunication Skills

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Current SC Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license required
American Heart Association BLS Certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire
Minimum of two years in any setting with one year of experience in a hospital setting preferred
Considerable knowledge and application of basic mathematic skills, including ratio and proportion relationships
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration and adverse effects

Preferred

Associates Degree preferred
SC State-Certified Pharmacy Technician registration preferred
National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB) preferred
