Responsibilities

Provide executive leadership to the Parks Maintenance and Golf Services divisions; set goals, performance standards, and operational priorities
Serve as a key member of the Parks & Recreation leadership team; contribute to departmental strategic plans and policy initiatives
Represent the department to City leadership, Council, boards, and community stakeholders
Anticipate community needs and trends; recommend new programs, services, and capital investments
Direct citywide parks and facility maintenance operations, including athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, splash pads, skate parks, and landscaped areas
Guide capital improvement planning and ensure projects meet safety, budget, and environmental standards
Oversee workforce planning, fleet and equipment management, and long-term asset preservation strategies
Provide executive oversight of the municipal golf course, including maintenance, pro shop, concessions, memberships, and tournaments
Direct the Head Golf Professional and Superintendent to maintain high-quality course conditions and customer experience
Ensure financial sustainability of golf services through memberships, marketing, events, and food/beverage operations
Promote the golf course as a premier community destination and regional draw
Lead development and administration of operating and capital budgets; monitor performance and ensure fiscal accountability
Pursue grants, sponsorships, and partnerships to enhance funding opportunities
Establish policies, procedures, and performance metrics to improve efficiency and accountability
Engage with citizens, advisory boards, and community groups to gather input and build support
Collaborate with city departments, contractors, and regional partners on joint initiatives
Respond to escalated concerns and serve as a visible ambassador for City parks and golf services

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Parks & Recreation, Public Administrations, Turf/Golf Management, or related field
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and/or golf operations, including at least three (3) years in senior management or director-level capacity
Valid state Driver's license required
Advanced knowledge of municipal parks and recreation administration, turf/golf course management, and facility maintenance
Expertise in budget development, strategic planning, and capital project management
Strong leadership skills to inspire and direct diverse teams
Knowledge of public administration principles, policy development, and regulatory compliance
Excellent communication, negotiation, and community relations skills
Ability to analyze operations, identify improvements, and implement innovative solutions

Preferred

Master's degree in Parks & Recreation, Public Administration, Turf/Golf Management, or related field
PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) Class A certification
CPRP or CPRE certification and NRPA/TRAPS membership
TABC and Food Handler certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
