Work Farm Inmate Crew Leader

Responsibilities

Supervises sentenced inmates in the performance of work at the Inmate Work Farm; enforces rules and regulations, prevents escapes, maintains order and discipline among inmates, and drives inmates to and from the Inmate Work Farm in a safe manner
Maintains accountability for tools, equipment, and facility keys
Conducts a variety of searches/inspections and/or pat downs of individuals, materials, and facilities for contraband, evidence, escape attempts, unauthorized articles, weapons, evidence of unauthorized activities, and infractions of rules
Reports, responds to, and controls emergency situations including offender assaults, fires, riots, offender disturbances, explosions, natural disasters, escapes, hostage conditions and security violations. Response requires the use of appropriate levels of force to control disorderly, combative, volatile, or hostile offenders including the proper use of a variety of restraints
Observes, documents, and reports any unusual changes in inmate behavior pursuant to FMJS requirements and in accordance with agency policies
Notifies designated persons immediately during an emergency situation, accurately describing the situation and location pursuant to FMJS requirements and in accordance with agency policies
Instructs and guides inmates on the safe use, care and proper return of necessary equipment and tools to perform daily tasks
Instructs inmates on proper procedures of farm operations
Successfully completes all assignments to duties as directed specifications, within specified timeframe and budget as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
CPR/First Responder certified or obtains certification within six (6) months of appointment
Valid Florida driver license required
Must pass MCSO 8-hour Driver Improvement Course

Preferred

Florida CDL Class A driver license desired
