Simulation Technician - IllinoisCOM
The Chicago School is a leading nonprofit university dedicated to educating change-makers in health and community practices. They are seeking a Simulation Technician to support and maintain the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine's simulation-based education programs, ensuring the smooth operation of simulation scenarios and contributing to the continuous improvement of the simulation program.

Responsibilities
Manage inventory and supplies within approved budget limits
Submit documentation for all expenses and purchase requests
Track equipment maintenance costs and warranty information
Provide input on technical budget needs during planning cycles
Set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of simulation equipment
Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs as trained or instructed by manufacturer
Implement, maintain, and/or facilitate work with IT on simulation software and hardware needs
Collaborate with faculty to set up and run simulation scenarios, ensuring all technical aspects are functioning properly
Assist in the development of new simulation scenarios, providing technical input and solutions
Operate simulation equipment during scenarios, including manipulating mannequin physiology and managing audiovisual systems
Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the use of simulation equipment and software
Stay current with advancements in simulation technology and methodologies, sharing knowledge with the team
Contribute to the development of simulation-based curriculum and assessment tools
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory
Assist in collecting and analyzing data from simulation sessions for quality improvement and research purposes
Support the accreditation process by ensuring compliance with technical standards and maintaining required documentation
Support research activities through technical expertise
Maintain research-related equipment and systems
Document technical aspects of research projects
Provide data on equipment performance and usage patterns
Recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance the simulation program
Collaborate with other departments to integrate simulation into various aspects of the curriculum
Operate and maintain printing equipment for producing simulation materials and educational resources
Assist in the design and production of printed materials for simulation scenarios, including patient charts, lab results, and educational handouts
Collaborate with faculty to create visually appealing and effective printed materials that enhance the learning experience
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare, Education, Biomedical Engineering, or Information Technology)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare simulation or a related field
Proficiency with common simulation-based technology, computers, and basic office software
Experience with audio/video editing and AV technology
Familiarity with printing technology and experience in print design
Strong technical troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred
Master's degree in a healthcare or education-related field
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification
Experience with AI, XR technologies in educational settings
BCLS Instructor status or expected to obtain within 6 months
Licensed as a paramedic, nurse, or in a similar healthcare field
Ability to become an ACLS and PALS instructor
Experience in an osteopathic medical education setting
Project management experience
Familiarity with educational theories and adult learning principles
Advanced skills in graphic design and desktop publishing software
