MOHS TECHNICIAN II
Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is seeking a passionate MOHS Technician who thrives on making a difference in patients' lives. The role involves preparing and processing tissue specimens for Mohs Surgery and requires a minimum of two years of experience as a MOHS Technician or Histotechnician, along with a valid Medical Assistant Certification.

Responsibilities
Proficiency of level I technician skills
Perform special stains such as IHC, Mart-1, and CK7
Performs complex and unusual procedures requiring knowledge and skills gained through experience
Ink tissue according to inking legend and LIP preference
Draw specimen diagram on Mohs map according to tissue received
Prepare non-melanoma and melanoma Mohs blocks for permanent sections
Inputting and filing Mohs maps
Maintain daily logs (i.e. cryostat maintenance, ambient temp logs, stainer log etc.)
Troubleshoot equipment issues and issues tissue as needed
Performs other duties as requested
Qualification
Required
Minimum of two years of experience as a MOHS Technician or Histotechnician
Valid Medical Assistant Certification
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training
2-3 years of Mohs Tech experience
Knowledge of and ability to use and apply medical terminology in performing his/her duties
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job
Ability to solve problems and identify solutions
Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff, including high volume and stressful situations
Ability to work independently as well as an integral part of the patient care team
Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
Ability to demonstrate business communication skills including speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job (including legible penmanship/handwriting, knowledge of grammar and syntax and ability to write clear and concise clinical reports)
Ability to learn and grasp and update clinical knowledge on a regular basis (through HealthStream classes, continuing education and other work-related courses and training) to adapt to an ever-changing healthcare environment
BLS - Basic Life Support
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Histology Technician or Histotechnologist
