IT Network Technician - Bisbee
NEOGOV is part of Cochise County's Information Technology Department, seeking an IT Network Technician. This role supports a wide range of IT systems, including computers and networks, and involves hands-on technical support and fieldwork at various sites across the county.

Responsibilities
Configures, installs, and supports hardware/software systems including computers, peripherals, telecommunications devices, routers, switches, radios, microwave equipment, and wireless access points
Identifies and resolves hardware, software, and network-related issues
Assists with infrastructure projects involving radio site maintenance, cable installations, and IT deployments
Provides end-user support and training as needed
Participates in the programming and upkeep of Motorola trunked radio systems and microwave links
Collaborates with System Administrators and Network Engineers to maintain high availability of networked and communication systems
Maintains logs, service records, and documentation
Contributes to a team-focused, service-oriented environment while continuously researching new technologies to improve reliability, performance, and security across IT and RF communications infrastructure
Qualification
Required
An Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronics, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
Two (2) years' experience in the operation, set-up, repair, and maintenance of microcomputers, telecommunications equipment, and other related peripheral equipment
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and have the ability to be covered by county insurance
Extensive knowledge of basic LAN/WAN networking environments
Extensive knowledge of IPv4 addressing and network fundamentals
Extensive knowledge of common network devices such as routers, switches, and wireless access points
Extensive knowledge of general computer and peripheral hardware operations
Extensive knowledge of IT troubleshooting methodologies and customer service techniques
Working knowledge of Windows client and server systems (Windows 10/11; Server 2016, 2019, 2022)
Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Working knowledge of network monitoring and logging tools such as SolarWinds or equivalent
Working knowledge of copper, fiber, and wireless communication cabling and standards
Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio or equivalent diagramming software
Skill in following written and verbal instructions accurately
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to apply technical knowledge to support IT and radio infrastructure
Ability to understand and follow network change management procedures
Ability to safely operate 4WD vehicles on rugged, mountainous terrain
Ability to work with independence and initiative while following direction
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff and non-technical end users
Preferred
Experience installing network cabling, ethernet cable runs, and termination
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for cable management and network infrastructure setup
