NEOGOV is seeking a Head Start Teacher for the Jefferson Community Actions Programs. The role involves planning and coordinating classroom activities for preschool children while ensuring their educational and nutritional needs are met, supervising assistant teachers, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and coordinate daily and weekly classroom activities to ensure the 8 domains of education, social emotional, medical, and nutritional requirements of the Head Start Program are met
Instruct and interact with pre-school age children in all center activities and join them at mealtime
Monitor each child's health/hygiene and ensure steps are taken to correct problem areas
Supervise and direct the activities of the Assistant Teacher and assigned Child Care Workers in all phases of the daily program
Evaluate and provide for the continual learning of the assistant, supplemented with frequent appropriate conferences
Request and secure all equipment/supplies for the daily activities, and maintain center/classroom facilities in safe, clean and proper order
Participate in the home visits, evaluations, assessments and parent-teacher conferences
Drive a personal vehicle as required for the job

Qualification

Required

Possession of a Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or higher degree from an accredited college in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or in an equivalent education major in which the primary focus of study is the care and development of preschool children (i.e., children 3 to 5 years-of-age)
Possession of a Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or higher degree from an accredited college in any subject, including at least eighteen (18) credit hours of coursework relating to ECE; plus, at least six (6) months of experience working in an early childhood setting with preschool children (i.e., children 3 to 5 years-of-age)
Must be able to pass a state background check with no felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions deemed relevant to work performed in this classification
Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application
Applicants proficient in English and Spanish (i.e., fluent in both languages) are encouraged to apply
