Responsibilities
Provides daily leadership, supervision, and direction to assigned crew members, including task assignment, quality inspection, and safety oversight
Oversees and participates in mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, and landscaping tasks to maintain park grounds in excellent condition
Directs and participates in specialized baseball and soccer field maintenance, including dragging, chalking/painting lines, setting field dimensions, leveling infields, repairing pitcher’s mounds, goal areas, and outfields, and scheduling renovation projects
Plans and documents preventive maintenance schedules for equipment, vehicles, and athletic field infrastructure
Performs skilled trade tasks such as carpentry, irrigation repair, painting, plumbing, electrical, and masonry as needed
Operates and maintains trucks, tractors, mowers, specialty turf equipment, and small engine tools
Inspects facilities, structures, irrigation systems, and athletic fields; records and reports findings; initiates corrective action as required
Applies safe and effective methods for weed, pest, and disease control in turf and landscaped areas
Oversees and coordinates with contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with City standards
Maintains accurate inventory of parts, supplies, equipment, and chemicals
Provides customer service to park users, athletic organizations, and the general public, ensuring facilities meet community needs
Assists with special events, tournaments, and City-wide recreational activities
Provides input on future park improvements and facility upgrades
May assist other park divisions or crews when necessary
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in park maintenance, athletic field care, or a related field
Noncommercial Certified Applicator License with weed/lawn/ornamental pest categories, or ability to obtain within one year from date of hire
Valid Texas driver's license
Preferred
Previous supervisory or crew leader experience in park or athletic field maintenance
Certification in irrigation or athletic field operations
