Responsibilities

Spearhead engineering and construction projects from initial vision to successful completion
Identify opportunities, devise innovative solutions, develop detailed plans (including budgets and timelines), and expertly manage construction
Take ownership of project costs, keeping them on track and making strategic adjustments as needed
Be the point person for vendor and supplier contracts, ensuring clear communication and on-time delivery
Leverage CAD software to bring designs to life, producing crucial drawings
Collaborate with internal and external design experts to develop comprehensive plans
Provide on-the-ground supervision and meticulous inspection for construction projects
Conduct thorough post-project reviews to measure success, identify areas for improvement, and analyze the return on investment
Develop bid packages for construction projects and skillfully manage the resulting contracts
Keep stakeholders informed with regular, insightful updates on project strategy, adaptations, and progress
Represent Vulcan Materials Company with professionalism and expertise at industry events, with government officials, and public organizations
Take on additional responsibilities as needed, contributing diverse skills to the dynamic team

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or a related field
At least 8 years of experience in project management, ideally within heavy industrial or mining settings
Well-versed in project management and engineering software, methodologies, and best practices
Proven track record of successfully managing projects from start to finish, adhering to scope, budget, and timelines
Demonstrates strong decision-making skills and fosters collaboration across all company functions
Empowers team members by entrusting them with their responsibilities and ensuring accountability
Proactively seeks novel and creative solutions to overcome challenges
Skilled at defining and prioritizing short-term objectives and deliverables
Demonstrates creative and effective problem-solving abilities
Pays close attention to detail and consistently follows through on commitments
Adapts skillfully and quickly to new situations
Proactively seeks to understand problems thoroughly by asking insightful questions
Validates assumptions or interpretations through verification with reliable sources, direct observation, and data collection
Proficiency in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite
Drawing and design skills are necessary, with a preference for AutoCAD expertise
