Responsibilities

Fulfill the requirements and conditions of the BC faculty contract by teaching assigned course(s) at all levels within the OLS Program, and by facilitating, evaluating and reporting the learning experiences of all students
Organize and/or develop curriculum and implement course plans that align with approved learning outcomes, content standards, and assessment criteria. Ensure curriculum remains current and relevant by regularly reviewing and updating materials
Provide up-to-date course syllabi that establishes clear expectations and document course outcomes for students
Assess and evaluate student learning, and provide timely, constructive, written, and oral feedback to students regarding their learning, class performance, and professional preparation. This includes performance reviews, and end-of-quarter forms
Communicate actively with students and create a positive and respectful learning environment that engages all students in teaching and learning activities
Incorporate a variety of teaching and learning strategies, delivery modalities, and innovative techniques including the integration of technology, Universal Design (UDL), and the latest research to assist in the accessibility, achievement and assessment of learning outcomes
Schedule and engage students in one Community Activity per class relevant to their classroom learning and other active learning experiences, providing the opportunity to learn about and practice information literacy as appropriate to the discipline
Respond to particular student needs in collaboration with the OLS Student Success Team, BC Disability Resource Center and other campus resources
Assist students with their life, educational, career goals, and discipline-specific inquiries
Submit a course story per section taught to OLS marketing and OLS Newsletter (SWAY) quarterly
Collaborate with Student Success Team and implement action/support plans developed by the Instructor and Student Success Program Manager (ISSPM) and attend End-of-Quarter (EOQ) meeting with students
Quarterly duties of up to 7.33 hours based on FTE include the Quarterly staff meeting (2 hours), OLS problem-solving meetings (Brown Bags) (up to 4 hours) and Service projects (up to 1.33 hours). Staff teaching 2 credits are only required to attend the quarterly meeting
Participate in Student Success days per BC policy/contract

Required

Master's degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, Adult Education (with a special education or disability services focus), OR a closely related field OR related experience AND professional development
Demonstrated experience teaching students with disabilities/neurodivergence
Knowledge and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-ableist practices in higher education
Proven ability to apply student-centered and strength-based teaching strategies
Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills with diverse populations

Preferred

Experience teaching in a community college, alternative postsecondary setting, or at the high school or transition level
Familiarity with inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) models
Experience in career readiness and transition planning for students with disabilities
Understanding of assistive technology and accessible instructional design
