Responsibilities

Responsible for phases of the supply process, collection and distribution functions for services to various departments including GI Unit, and inpatient or outpatient surgical units

Contributing to the quality of patient care through strict quality assurance and efficient practices of decontaminating surgical equipment and instruments

Cleaning, inspecting, maintaining, assembling, packaging and monitoring sterilization of instruments and supplies

Teaching students and staff and serving as a resource to various departments for quality assurance measures

Assisting with the day to day supervisory duties of department, including staffing, acting as a resource and role model for the staff, assisting the department manager with performance reviews and orientation of new staff

Ensuring the team stays focused on assigned tasks

Challenging the team to learn more and setting work related goals

Being fluent with the Instrument tracking system and ensuring its upkeep

Qualification

Central Service Technician certificationBasic Life Support (BLS)Central sterile experienceInstrument tracking systemTeaching skills

Required

Graduate of an accredited HSPA or CBSPD sterile processing technician program or equivalent military training

One year central sterile experience in Certified Tech II role

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) and one of the following at time of hire: Central Service Technician certification awarded by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Military equivalency
