Responsibilities
Supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of all equipment including any electrical, wiring and equipment needs, including all types of lighting, electrical service to equipment, temporary power, pump motors, & ball field lights
Supervises workers and inmates
Trains new employees and inmates
Performs evaluations of subordinates and inmates
Performs inventory control
Estimates time and material for work requests
Coordinates special events and projects
Works on special events and sporting events
Assists with HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical procedures as needed
Performs maintenance and repair of all city property
Performs preventive maintenance on city property
Assists other departments with maintenance work
Maintains and expands job knowledge, skills, and abilities
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field
Basic skills typically associated with a high school education
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department which is normally six months but may be altered
Knowledge of OSHA Safety Rules
Knowledge of Southern Building Codes
Knowledge of management and supervisory techniques
Knowledge of department policies and procedures
Knowledge of accepted personnel practices, procedures, and policies, including supervision and training
Knowledge of the principles and practices of facilities and grounds maintenance and repair
Skill in interpersonal relations
Skill in oral and written communication
Skill in the operation of hand tools, electrical tools, and testing instruments
Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to use equipment necessary to perform essential job functions
