Responsibilities
The Child Support Services County Attorney III is responsible for the preparation of Child Support Cases for Family Court; performance of activities in Court; the follow-up on these cases, including parent locate and processing of interstate cases; and is responsible for providing general child support services to clients as required or needed
Represents out-of-state petitioners in reciprocal support suits and monitors outgoing UIFSA cases
Negotiates complex settlement of Child Support cases with opposing counsel
Prepares and monitors pleadings and preparation of cases for judicial hearings
Responsible for trial of cases and appearance at Court or other judicial hearings
Assists in coordinating at county level interrelationship between CSSD and Family Court personnel
Handles appeals resulting from child support cases
Performs job delivery and/or performance with positive or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public, and co-workers as an integral requirement
Will be required to perform Red Cross shelter/emergency response duties as directed
Performs related duties as required
Qualification
Required
A Juris Doctor Degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school
Experience as a practicing attorney
Must be a member of the SC BAR
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to communicate effectively (written and orally) and write legibly
May be required to work after hours and/or some overnight travel
Must be able to lift approximately 15-20 lbs
Preferred
Experience as a DSS Attorney
