Responsibilities

Maintains parks, sports facilities, outdoor recreation facilities, trails and municipal owned grounds, including the cleaning of park restrooms
Performs turf maintenance including irrigation, mowing, aeration, seeding, sodding, thatching, trimming and fertilization
Performs litter collection, ball field maintenance, park equipment and grounds repairs including park signs, barriers and fences
Maintenance of bike and ski/hiking trails including brush clearing and black top or concrete repair
Some carpentry, painting and other tasks as assigned
Winter maintenance tasks of snow/ice removal, as well as sanding and ice rink maintenance may apply depending on work season and weather conditions
General labor with heavy lifting anticipated daily in all weather conditions

Required

Six (6) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance
Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire
Applicant must be capable of bending, twisting, and kneeling
Applicant must be able to lift and carry items weighing more than fifty (50) pounds and work outdoors in inclement weather

Preferred

Experience in operating various types of maintenance equipment and tools
