Responsibilities
Installs water meters; replaces meter boxes and lids
Turns water service on and off
Installs and repairs water and wastewater lines and mains
Locates, inspects, and cleans sewer manholes
Performs confined space entry procedures
Maintains the right-of-ways to ensure pipelines and manholes are free of debris
Installs and repairs fire hydrants
Operates a heavy truck to perform construction work
Performs cleaning of blocked sewer pipes
Replaces concrete sidewalks
Repairs water leaks
Establishes safe work zones, including traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed
Repairs landscaping
Responds to emergency situations
Trains, directs, and supervises the work of assigned personnel
Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment
Assists in the maintenance of equipment and supply inventory
Operates job related tools and equipment including Vactor trucks, trailers, and front end loaders
Communicates with the public
Performs other related job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
One (1) year of collections equipment operation work experience or any related work field
NC Grade 1 Collections System Operator certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment is required
Requires a valid State of North Carolina Class B CDL driver's license
This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification
Preferred
NC Grade 2 Collections System Operator certification
NC Class B CDL driver's license with Tanker and HazMat endorsement
