Responsibilities

Accurately interprets changes in rhythms
Records rhythm strips as required
Demonstrates arrhythmia recognition skills
Communicates lethal arrhythmias to nursing staff and documents strips as requested
Maintains alarms on at all times with rates set safely to minimize false alarms
Identifies individual EKGs with proper patient identifiers
Works with the computer system, including Maintains flow through the ER and facilitates transfers, admissions and discharges timely
Answers telephone and intercom in a pleasant and professional manner and relays messages accurately and quickly
Reports any malfunction of monitoring equipment to the Biomedical Technicians, Charge Nurse, and Nursing Director

Basic Life Support (BLS)InterpretationArrhythmia recognitionTelemetry monitoringCommunication skills

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic EKG class and demonstration of competency through testing
