1+ years expCity of Panama City Beach is seeking a Water Storage & Pump Stations Operator Trainee/C/B/A. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city’s water storage and pump station systems, ensuring safe drinking water for customers.

Responsibilities
Monitors, maintains, and operates water storage and pumping stations
Performs water system sampling and bacteriological testing
Maintains plant records, including operational logs, daily sheets, and daily, weekly, and monthly logs
Performs plant maintenance, including greasing pumps and motors
Installs and maintains sample stations
Monitors incoming water quality and system pressure
Checks chlorine residuals and PH throughout the distribution system
Responds to after-hours emergencies when on-call
Maintains chemical inventory and reorders as needed
Responds to and resolves customer complaints
Performs weekly and monthly fire hydrant flushing
Operates generators as needed
Performs related duties
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
Possession of a Class C Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator License
Ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Trainee – Must have high school diploma/GED or vocational school; must be able to read and write; should have some experience as a laborer in the operation of similar facilities, or similar experience in the maintenance of motors, pumps and related equipment; must be familiar with computers. In training for Class C Water Treatment Operator's Certificate issued by the State of Florida DEP
Operator C – Must have high school diploma/GED or vocational school; must be able to read and write effectively in a technical environment; must have at least five (5) years of experience in the operation of similar facilities; must be capable of using, or learning, MS Word and MS Excel software, and performing routine data entry; must have Class C Water Treatment Operator's certification issued by the State of Florida; must have knowledge of regulations, safety standards and occupational hazards associated with job
Operator B – Must have high school diploma/GED or vocational school; must be able to read and write effectively in a technical environment; must have at least five (5) years of experience in the operation of similar facilities; must be capable of using, or learning, MS Word and MS Excel software, and performing routine data entry; must have Class B Water Treatment Operator's certification issued by the State of Florida; must have knowledge of regulations, safety standards and occupational hazards associated with job
