Instructor, Truck Driving (Part-Time)
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering high-quality programs that connect students to careers. The Instructor for the Truck Driving Program will develop, plan, and deliver courses for students to acquire a CDL, utilizing various teaching methods and managing classroom responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities
Manage the classroom/laboratory
Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation
Manage equipment, supplies and materials
Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues
Collaborate with advisory committee in program area
Attend departmental and institutional meetings
Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC
Support student organizations and activities
Develop relationships with business and industry
Complete program evaluation and follow-up
Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Technical school diploma in Truck Driving OR High School diploma and successful completion of Truck Driver Train-the-Trainer course offered through WTCS (or equivalent school with proof of transcript). This course must be completed by the end of the first year of teaching
Must possess and maintain a good driving record with DOT/DMV & CSA (Compliance Safety & Accountability)
Must have a minimum of seven years (14,000 hours) experience as a Truck driver
At least two years of driving experience must have occurred within the last five years OR two years of teaching Truck driving course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years
One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent to two (2) FT semesters or four (4) PT semesters
Must complete the most up to date defensive driving course series online via SumTotal (internal training system) with a score of at least 80% within the first 90 days of employment
Current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Instructors must NOT have any of the following restrictions on their Class A CDL: L (No full air brakes), Z (No full air brakes), O (No fifth-wheel connection)
Current driving record within acceptable standards of DOT (Department of Transportation) and Wisconsin DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) standard
Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction
Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
Experience with a voice mail system
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
