Responsibilities
Performs routine maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging off airways, greens, and roughs to ensure optimal playing conditions
Assists with the irrigation and watering of the golf course to maintain healthy grass and plant life
Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed, adhering to safety and environmental regulations
Conducts regular inspections of the golf course to identify areas requiring attention
Performs general landscaping duties such as planting, watering, fertilizing, and assisting in applying pesticides to maintain turf health
Collaborates with the grounds crew to prepare the course for tournaments and special events
Maintains equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any issues as needed
Assists in golf course setup, including moving tee markers, maintaining bunkers, and ensuring course cleanliness
Performs irrigation system maintenance, including checking and repairing sprinklers and ensuring proper water distribution
Removes trash and debris from the course, facilities, and surrounding areas to maintain a clean and inviting environment
Conducts general maintenance on golf course facilities, including restrooms, pathways, and signage
Assists with special projects, seasonal course preparations, and other tasks as assigned
Changes pin placements, rakes and repairs bunkers, fills divots, fuels equipment, repairs cart paths, changes, cleans and repairs course accessories
Retrieves, collects, washes and stores driving range golf balls
Performs other related duties as requested
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
Verbal skills to communicate effectively with the supervisor, co-workers, and the general public
Ability to read and follow written instructions and manuals
Proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping and golf course maintenance equipment
Knowledge of basic golf course maintenance practices and landscaping techniques
Understanding of Town rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to maintenance work
Mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on golf course equipment
Knowledge of safety rules, including accident prevention and proper equipment handling
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
Preferred
Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance
Familiarity with power equipment and hand tools used in landscaping
Basic knowledge of turf management and horticulture practices
Possesses an understanding of the equipment and how to best maintain it for maximum life and minimum downtime
