Hope Utilities is seeking a Lead Gas Technician to oversee the planning, installation, and maintenance of piping systems for their residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The role involves assigning work to technicians, performing installations and adjustments, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

Completing and assigning work to other technicians for customer installations, rebuilds, and adjustments of nearly any component of the utility field infrastructure

Locating natural gas facilities and meter reading

Entering businesses, industrial complexes, and customers’ homes to explain technical subjects

Preparing written memos communicating complex topics and problems to customers

Working with Operations Manager to ensure compliance with O&M quality standards and required deadlines

Required

Must complete nine years of satisfactory service as a Gas Technician

Maintain a current Maine Fuel Board License

Pass all required Operator Qualifications for the position

Maintain a N.A.C.E certification

Perform labor intensive tasks both indoors and outdoors; including but not limited to-wrenching, shoveling, lifting, pulling, standing, kneeling, for long periods of time

Lead with a safety-first mentality

Enhanced aptitude for mechanical systems, pressure regulators, and customer appliances

Meter maintenance, reading, and operation

Proficient with operating tools & equipment used by the Company

Actively helps to train other technicians

Sets an example for high quality workmanship

Be available to respond to overtime work and emergency calls

Reside within a specific geographic area near the Company operation center

Clearly and legibly complete written or electronic forms as required

Proficient with Microsoft office, GPS mapping programs, and electronic pressure and measurement devices

First responder for odor calls and gas service emergencies

Highly Proficient in the use and interpretation of SCADA
