Assistant Workforce Instructor

NEOGOV is seeking an Assistant Workforce Instructor to assist with the implementation of workforce instruction curricula. The role involves providing classroom instruction and support to TANF and GA participants in areas such as workforce skills development, career development, and job search skills.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group instruction and tutoring to students working to attain their GED or improve literacy
Serve as an assistant classroom instructor by teaching the TANF participants computer skills, career planning and development, job search, readiness skills, and employment placement skills
Work with students to identify areas of weakness, develop a plan of study with students, and provide materials to reinforce skills
Assist instructor with programs, lesson designed to promote self-reliance, facilitate a healthy, and viable tribal workforce
Maintain student files; monitor, track, and record student attendance, test scores, and progress; provide Tribal agencies with periodic updates and reports as needed
Assist with the delivery of daily formal instruction, provide informal, personal interaction/support, and role modeling for clients
Assist to ensure that Level I participants with resource information on for on-the-job training and employment and/or further education/training
Assist organization of curriculum materials, handouts, classroom arrangements, equipment care, dissemination of available community resources for career development, and employment
Provide transportation and planning to assist students who attend off-site meetings, educational tours, and testing centers
Interact with TANF and Social Services staff, TANF clients, other related services staff, and the PYT Community at large in order to implement program on teamwork basis
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director

Required

High School Diploma or GED; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Microsoft Office Specialist Certification is required within one year of hire, failure to obtain M.O.S. certification may result in removal from this position
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License
This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends
Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination from this position
Knowledge of principles of job coaching and job search training methodology
Knowledge of PYT community, job market, economic and political trends and web/internet/computer resources
Introductory knowledge of welfare reform goals and objectives
Knowledge of Native American low-income, under served and unemployable population issues
Knowledge of the role of workplace technology
Knowledge of community referral processes
Knowledge of Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn
Skills to maintain files and records
Skills to apply adult education principles and techniques
Skills to exercise independent judgment
Skills to maintain confidentiality
Skills to operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications
Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public
