Responsibilities

Assists surgical team during the surgical procedure(s). Understands the procedures being performed and can anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during procedure. Transports to decontamination room upon completion of the surgical procedure

Prepares and maintains equipment and surgical instruments in the OR suite and ensures their proper set-up. Responsible for all instruments, maintaining them in good working order, and assuring the availability of needed instruments to do all surgical cases

Maintains sterile field and counts all instruments, sponges, needles etc. needed for each case. Has necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures

Cleans, assembles, and prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies for sterilization when needed. Follows proper sterilization processes. Participates in testing and recording of all Biotesting for the sterilizers and autoclaves in the department as needed

Required

High School Diploma/GED

At least 1 year experience in a general OR environment required or graduation from a Surgical Technician/Scrub Tech program
