Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director
NEOGOV is seeking a Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director who will provide strategic oversight and visionary leadership for the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department. This role is responsible for shaping and delivering comprehensive programs that enhance public spaces and promote community engagement and well-being.

Responsibilities
Perform a variety of responsible technical duties related to the development, construction, renovation, and maintenance of park and recreation facilities projects implemented by the City
Prepare complex studies and comprehensive analysis related to land use, population trends and the recreation needs of various social and economic communities; compile, research, tabulate and evaluate data as needed
Update Parks and Recreation Capital Facilities Plan annually consistent with Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan
Coordinate and oversee the efforts and activities of professional consultants and contractors selected to perform project design and construction
Review a variety of technical materials including schematic design, master plan and construction drawings and specifications. Confer with architects and engineers to coordinate design efforts and assure cohesive and comprehensive planning of projects
Prepare and maintain a variety of comprehensive records, files and reports
Analyze, prepare, and review cost estimates of time, labor, and materials required to complete various projects; review and coordinate bids
Oversee parks maintenance contract(s) ensuring all parks are safe, clean, and attractive
Research, prepare, and present grants for development and acquisition projects
Communicate with City staff, special interest groups, private and other government agencies, and the general public to provide information, coordinate planning activities and projects and provide policy interpretations
Oversee and supervise parks and/or recreation staff and programs
Prepare graphic and written materials to be used in presentations to the City Council, committees and other community groups and organizations
Develop and present budget to Advisory Board, City Manager and City Council
Attend a variety of public meetings as needed to represent the City and provide information regarding park planning projects
Provide staff support and administrative assistance to Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and other related boards and committees as assigned; attend and record meetings; prepare reports, agendas, correspondence and other materials as appropriate
Collect, tabulate and analyze statistical data; assist in surveys and other studies; analyze and make recommendations based on data; provide information to other agencies and jurisdictions
Coordinate design work with other departments within the City to assure that designs comply with state and local codes. Establish technical committees to review and comment on technical and landscape plans and drawings
Assure that environmental impact analyses and other documents necessary for development projects are properly prepared
Inspect construction work sites for conformance with general specifications and progress
Perform general administrative responsibilities and projects as assigned
Actively champion a culture of and commitment to workplace safety through everyday actions and leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, landscape architecture, park or urban planning or related field
Three years of increasingly responsible applicable experience
Valid Washington driver's license by date of hire
Preferred
Master's degree plus two years of related public sector experience
