The County of Monterey is seeking an Assistant Deputy Director for Social Services – Community Benefits, responsible for overseeing public assistance eligibility and services. Responsibilities

Assist the Deputy Director with planning, implementing, coordinating, and directing the Department of Social Services Community Benefits programs
Provide oversight and make recommendations to the Deputy Director for policy development, implementation, and training
Act as a liaison with relevant professional groups, community partners, other County/State departments, and agencies at various governmental levels to coordinate programs and services for Monterey County

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, health, social sciences, or a related field
Three (3) years progressively responsible work in program administration, planning and evaluations preferably with a public agency, including two years of management experience in the delivery of human services, social welfare or health services that demonstrates the possession of the required knowledge and abilities
Successfully pass a thorough background investigation to include fingerprinting
Possess a valid California Class C Driver's License at the time of appointment and possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record or produce evidence of suitable transportation, which is approved by the appointing authority
Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during times of disaster and/or emergency; travel out of the county to attend meetings

Preferred

A master's degree in human services; social work; business administration; or a related field is highly desirable for the Community Benefits Branch
