Responsibilities

Manages the water distribution system

Wastewater collections system and maintenance compliance units

Coordinates work with other departments and private contractors

Plans, organizes, directs and assigns maintenance repair activities

Schedules and assigns work to crews and inspects progress

Maintains records and files

Prepares reports

Performs related tasks as required

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental science or a related field

Five years of experience in municipal or industrial wastewater treatment, laboratory operations, or wastewater system inspection

One year in a supervisory capacity

Must possess and maintain a North Carolina Wastewater Treatment Plan Operator Grade II certification or higher

Grade III Collection System Operator license or higher

Grade A Distribution License

An official completed Halifax County Application for Employment (HR1107)

College transcripts

Criminal background check will be required prior to hiring

Pre-employment drug test will be required with negative results prior to the first day of employment

Must be a U.S. citizen or legal alien authorized to maintain employment in the United States

Preferred

Lower levels of licensure may be accepted with the understanding that appropriate certifications must be obtained within the first year of employment in this position
