Research Technician (APD Code Enforcement Section)

The City of Atlanta is seeking a Research Technician to support the APD Code Enforcement Section. The role involves researching property information, responding to inquiries, and maintaining communication with public agencies regarding property violations.

Responsibilities

Utilizes computer-based programs to identify correct owners
Obtains accurate information regarding the property title, current property owner, interested parties, and In-Rem lien payoffs
Responds to oral and written inquiries from individuals, their representatives, and other agencies in a timely manner
Develops and maintains contact with public agencies and other sources concerning property violations
Acts as a liaison between the company and police
Analyzes, interprets, and applies information from public records
Maintains detailed notes in the case management system to record research and investigative findings
Engages with community members to address concerns related to code violations and explains enforcement procedures
Identifies and explores new sources and methods for more effective research and investigation
Attends and participates in court proceedings
Attends and participates in monthly Administrative In-Rem Board Hearings and weekly court proceedings when necessary
Receives citizen complaints and creates cases when necessary
Performs case reviews to determine case objective and to verify information regarding address, telephone number, vehicles, and any other information to be generated
Performs daily office tasks such as filing, recording, maintaining records, copying, posting, and other similar duties
Stays updated on changes in City of Atlanta/Code Enforcement regulations, attends relevant training, and continues professional development
Maintains professional attitude and appearance when representing the company to clients, court personnel, and others during work related interaction
Verbally/electronically (e-mail) updates management regarding case activity on an as needed basis
May perform other duties as assigned

Required

Associate's degree in Business/Public Administration or related field
Two (2) years administrative, research and/or analytical experience
Knowledge and understanding of mortgage/foreclosure ownership laws
