Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician

Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technicians to join their Emergency and Critical Care team. This vital role involves supporting the continuity of care for critically ill patients and providing top-tier care in a busy 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.

Responsibilities

Perform and assist in advanced nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients
Administer medications via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, PO)
Monitor and assess patient vitals including blood pressure, ECG, temperature, and respiratory rate
Set up and monitor IV fluids, CRIs, and manage multi-port lines
Perform fluid therapy and medical calculations
Conduct phlebotomy, lab sample handling, and basic hematology procedures
Prepare and monitor patients for emergency surgeries or procedures
Manage central line and PICC line placement and care
Administer transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross-matching
Provide nursing care for exotic species
Communicate effectively with clients during patient updates and discharges
Accurately document medical records and invoicing
CPCR (Cardiopulmonary Cerebrovascular Resuscitation)
Wound care, splint, and bandage application
Placement and maintenance of urinary catheters
Familiarity with emergency medications and protocols
Monitoring post-operative and unstable patients

Required

Minimum 2 years of experience in advanced inpatient or emergency care
Strong critical thinking and multitasking abilities
Experience in high-volume, multi-doctor, or specialty hospitals
Excellent communication skills and dedication to patient care
Able to lift up to 40 lbs
Frequent bending, standing, restraining, and active movement for long periods

Preferred

CVT or VTS (ECC) preferred or in progress
Comfortable with handling exotics is a plus
