Ophthalmic Technician
Olmsted Medical Center is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services, and they are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to perform various ophthalmic testing and assist in patient care. The role involves working closely with physicians and maintaining proficiency in software products while supporting the training of new staff.

Responsibilities
Performs objective and subjective ophthalmic testing including visual fields, A-scans, keratometry, lensometry, fundus photography, tonometry, contact lens fitting, and refractometry
Assists with ordering contact lens and education to patients
Maintains proficiency with software products
Seeks out and attends educational opportunities as credits for certification and to enhance ophthalmology knowledge and skills
Assists with training new staff
Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in time management and task completion
Demonstrates accountability in documentation and charging for services
Other duties as assigned by management
Assists physicians with surgical procedures in office and same-day-surgery at the hospital
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school graduate
Current BLS certification
Preferred
Completion of ophthalmic technician training program or a minimum of two years clinical ophthalmologic experience
Current Certification of Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certification of Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT) preferred; new employees will be given one year from date of hire to obtain COA or CPOT certification; employees must maintain current COA or CPOT certification; certifications obtained through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
