Responsibilities

Design and develop software systems using design and functional specifications, scientific analysis, good software development practices, and mathematical models
Write, update, and maintain computer applications and software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing/retrieving data, or controlling other equipment
Develop or direct software system testing and validation procedures
Review and modify existing software to correct errors, adapt it to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance
Direct software programming and development of corresponding documentation
Consult with customers or other departments on project status, contractual commitments, or technical issues such as software system design or maintenance
Collaborate with the design team to evaluate the interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements, and resolve customer problems
Conduct pretesting of programs and software applications to validate and identify inconsistencies with the design specifications
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Design teams to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest improvements

Qualification

Required

Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that follows best practices and standards
Design robust, scalable, and secure features that meet the needs of clients and users
Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation
Collaborate with other developers, designers, testers, and project managers in an agile environment

Preferred

Proven work experience as a Ruby on Rails developer or in a similar role
Proficient in the Ruby programming language and its syntax
Familiar with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Experience developing highly interactive applications using web services such as RESTful APIs
Strong grasp of object-oriented analysis and design principles
Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL
Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Redis
Experience with testing tools such as RSpec or Cucumber
Experience building deployments through CI/CD pipelines
Experience with AWS, specifically Elastic Beanstalk and EC2 services
Experience writing efficient SQL queries and refactoring inefficient queries for better performance
