Telemetry Technician
NEOGOV is a part of the Ventura County Health Care Agency, seeking a Telemetry Technician. The role involves observing and interpreting cardiac monitors, reporting arrhythmias, and maintaining telemetry equipment to ensure patient safety and care.

Responsibilities
Observes, interprets, and documents patients' current cardiac rhythm, rate, trends, and other clinical information using cardiac telemetry, parameters, and central monitors; communicates changes to licensed clinical staff
Recognizes and immediately reports potentially lethal arrhythmias and alarms to nursing and medical staff
Monitors, logs, and labels telemetry and central monitoring strips; places all tracing strips into the patients' medical records
Cleans and maintains telemetry and central monitoring equipment; troubleshoots basic equipment problems; reports issues to the Biomedical Equipment unit and shift supervisor as soon as possible
Ensures alarm warnings are set according to standards and policy at all times; refers any variances from the prescribed standards to the manager before making any changes to the settings
Consistently practices excellent customer service, maintains patient confidentiality, and complies with hospital standards of conduct using the Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation Thank You (AIDET) framework and Studer principles
Ensures that department and hospital policies and procedures are followed and reports any variances regarding standards of patient care to the Clinical Nurse Manager
May assist in monitoring supply levels and ordering supplies and equipment as needed
May answer phones, take messages, open new charts, and assist in maintaining patient medical records; and
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Some experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia training course (12 or more hours). Proof of completion is required by the application filing deadline
Six (6) months of full-time experience detecting, recording, reporting, and monitoring cardiac rhythms in an acute care hospital
One (1) year of full-time experience assisting medical professionals in a health care environment
Must be willing and able to work day, evening, and/or night shifts
Must possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certificate prior to the first day of employment
Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia training course (12 hours or more class duration) within six (6) months of hire
Preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
Experience reading and recording medical terminology
Experience maintaining patient and medical records

EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Incumbents may be eligible for educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.
