Technician II - Facility Maintenance

NEOGOV is seeking a Technician II - Facility Maintenance for the City of Harrisonburg's Public Works Department. Responsibilities

Perform diverse maintenance tasks across city facilities
Conduct rough and finished carpentry
Repair wooden structures and equipment
Perform roof leak repairs, panel and tile installation, and roof maintenance
Execute electrical work, including installing and replacing basic wiring, switches, and light sources
Handle masonry projects, HVAC system maintenance, plumbing tasks, and food service equipment installation
Utilize welding, various hand and power tools, and operate machinery like street sweepers and dump trucks for snow removal
Perform preventive automotive maintenance, minor vehicle repairs, and pre-trip inspections
Respond to work orders and maintain accurate documentation
Ensure regular and reliable attendance and operate a City vehicle to complete various assignments

Required

High school diploma or GED and considerable (3-5 years) experience in one or more of the building trades, maintenance, repair, and/or construction work. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement
At least 18 years of age
Valid driver's license. Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B within six months of hire. Paid, on-the-job training will be provided
Possession of current Virginia Department of Transportation Intermediate Work Zone Safety Certification within six months of hire date or as class scheduling permits
After-hours availability is required on an as-needed basis
The selected candidate for this position will be subject to alcohol and drug testing as required by the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA); FMCSA Clearinghouse Query; DMV record review; job-specific physical; and criminal background check
