Veterinary Technician, Ophthalmology
Ethos Veterinary Health is a leading network of specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals. They are seeking an Ophthalmology Technician to provide high-quality medical care, assist the Ophthalmologist during patient appointments, and ensure exceptional comfort and care for all patients.

Responsibilities
Assisting Ophthalmologist during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and education
Performing sterile scrub and assist Ophthalmologist throughout surgical procedures
Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients
Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; patient prep and recovery; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of anesthetized procedures
Continue to learn and develop a strong skill set
Participate in staff training as requested
Participate within the overall team in a productive and positive manner
Comply with all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care
Qualification
Required
Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are required
Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; patient prep and recovery; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of anesthetized procedures
Assisting Ophthalmologist during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and education
Performing sterile scrub and assist Ophthalmologist throughout surgical procedures
Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients
Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience
Technical skill set such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement and general nursing care experience is needed
Anesthesia monitoring, perform sterile scrub, assist doctors throughout a variety of surgical procedures
Ability to lift and restrain patients up to 40lbs
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Advocate for patient care
Self-motivated with a passion for veterinary medicine
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Able to properly restrain dog and cat patients for veterinary care and procedures
Able to stand, sit, bend, restrain, squat for extended periods of time
Able to lift 40 lbs in a safe manner
Able to type, write and verbally converse
Able to work the posted schedule
Preferred
Preference given to applicants with advanced skill sets which include Schirmer tear tests, tonometry, ocular ultrasounds, electroretinograms, and the use of paralytics
LVT preferred but not required
