The Outreach & Engagement Student Assistant will support the Computer Science department by creating content for social media, assisting with event logistics, and enhancing student engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Create or curate engaging content (text, images, videos) for social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn

Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Track and report basic performance metrics to help assess the impact of social media efforts

Develop flyers to promote department sponsored events and outreach activities

Take photos at events to capture student participation and highlight program activities

Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance student engagement and community-building initiatives

Assist the Computer Science Program Manager with event setup and logistics, as needed

Required

Strong written and verbal skills, demonstrated through academic coursework, professional experience, or content creation (e.g., social media, presentations, publications, or reports)

Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts (e.g., for a student organization, business, or professional project)

Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar

Ability to successfully complete tasks both independently and in collaboration with a team

At the time of hire, BC student must be in good standing with Student Conduct

While in the position, students must maintain student status (enrolled in academic credits) at Bellevue College (except Summer)

While in the position, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and not fall below a 2.5 quarterly GPA for more than one consecutive quarter

While in the position, students must remain in good standing with Student Conduct
