Responsibilities
Assist in the beautification of Anchorage parks and streetscapes and to maintain its natural resources
Performs routine gardening and landscaping under general supervision
Assist with inside and outside greenhouse plant production and maintenance duties
Work includes environmental monitoring and control, tropical plant care, maintenance of public solarium and tropical greenhouse, and carrying heavy plants/loads
Fall work includes landscape and grounds maintenance including tree/shrub pruning and heeling, fall bed preparation, and weeding and cleaning greenhouses
Winter work includes cleaning and flushing benches, washing plant pots and filling with soil, organizing pallets of filled pots, caring for and delivery of holiday trees and plants, hanging holiday lights, hanging basket maintenance, seeding, daily and weekly watering, educational outreach programs, transplanting crops, and snow maintenance and removal as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Three (3) months experience in greenhouse, horticulture, or landscape maintenance work, and in the use of associated equipment
Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record at time of hire
