Responsibilities
Performs skilled and semi-skilled general labor, maintenance and repair work for the City of Longview, and coordinates the activities of assigned work crews; maintains City infrastructure, facilities and grounds, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
Working independently, performs a variety of specialized equipment operation and labor tasks in order to maintain streets, roadway, water and sewer systems, infrastructure, parks, grounds and facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment
Leads work crews performing skilled and semi-skilled general labor, construction, maintenance and repair work; assures that all safety rules and regulations are observed on the job site
Coordinates and assigns staff, vehicles and equipment; checks work activities for compliance to quality standards, safety regulations and City procedures
Monitors operations, and enforces adherence to City policies, procedures and standards
Trains work crew in City procedures, techniques and safety standards; trains crew in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools; works with staff to correct performance deficiencies
Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries
Collects information, purchases supplies, prepares reports, and maintains records as required
Provides customer service and responds to questions within scope of authority
Operates a variety of equipment and vehicles
Leads the maintenance of vehicles and equipment in accordance with City safety procedures
Performs other related duties as assigned or required
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Three years experience operating specialized vehicles and maintenance equipment, preferably with the City of Longview
Valid Texas Driver's License
Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required when assigned to Public Works
May be required to obtain Certified Operator status for specialized equipment and functions
Additional technical training and certifications may be required for some job assignments
