Supervisory Accounting Technician 2 Retirement Systems - City Wide Opportunity
NEOGOV is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Supervisory Accounting Technician II to join the City of Detroit Retirement System. This role is crucial in providing accurate and timely financial services to employees and retirees, while also supervising clerical and administrative support staff to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, and coordinate work operations
Communicate agency policies and priorities throughout the organization
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates; set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of employees
Direct and evaluate work performance of subordinates
Solve problems related to the work supervised
Give advice, counsel, or instructions to individual employees on both
Interview candidates for positions in work unit and make recommendations for appointment, promotion, or reassignment involving such positions
Hear and resolve complaints from employees and refer group grievances and the more serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors
Recommend selections, promotions, status changes awards, separations, minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands
Identify developmental and training needs of employees, provide or make provision for such development and training
Plan and carry out the training and development of employees
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
May require giving advice to management on, and participation in: Program and production goals, priorities, and major work schedules Long-range human capital requirements
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in clerical and accounting support or a related field, which includes at least two (2) years processing payroll and one (1) year in a supervisory capacity leading teams, projects or other assignments that illustrate supervisory capabilities

City Employees Retirement System As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after: Completion of thirty (30) years of service; At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service. In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply); An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service; Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
