Automation Technician

The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of material handling systems, requiring advanced expertise in mechanical, controls, and rudimentary software aspects.

Responsibilities
Uses troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair mechanical problems
Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings
Create and review Standard Operating Procedure SOP documents
Follows preventive maintenance programs
Engage in troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technology integration
Conduct audits and inspections for compliance and quality assurance
Analyze performance data and identify process optimization opportunities
Comply with all requirements of Daifuku's policies and procedures
Conducts Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI
Executes PLC ladder code changes using Rockwell RSLogix family IDE’s (5000 preferred)
Utilizes AutoCAD proficiently for reviewing, developing, and maintaining electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings
Documents and communicates control system and equipment configuration changes
On-call availability as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent; prefer a 2-year professional electrical training degree or bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI
3-4 years working in material handling industry or equivalent industry experience
Advanced experience with CMMS platform and PLC's, with basic Software knowledge
Minimum 3 years' experience with material handling technology
At least 3 years of experience with AutoCAD for control layout design and schematics
Working knowledge of handheld and power tools
Advanced knowledge of PLCs and motor control
Advanced ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls defects
Advanced ability to interpret both mechanical and electric drawings and schematics
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot all material handling equipment and components
Self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
Knowledge of safe industrial work practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Customer service orientation
Ability to Lead, teach, and contribute to a team setting
Advanced computer skills including MS Office
