Responsibilities
Assigns and assists in completing work orders for the Water and Sewer Department based upon priority, weather conditions and available staffing
Monitors activities of field employees to assist in the preparation of performance evaluations
Supervises and may assist in the maintenance, repair and installation of City water and sewer mains, installation and repair of new water and sewer services
Supervises and may assist in the maintenance and installation of fire hydrants, valves and fittings
Supervises and may assist in the installation of gravity sewer mains, laterals and manholes
Supervises and may assist in the installation and maintenance of sewer pump stations and force mains
Assists in monitoring control and maintenance of the inventory supply room; verifies work orders on a daily basis for accuracy; verifies physical inventory on a quarterly basis
Reviews all departmental safety bulletins and safety materials provided by manufacturers, OSHA, other agencies as well as the City of Belleview’s Safety Committee; reviews safety policy and procedures with Water and Sewer employees; wears all required safety equipment and ensures that all safety procedures are followed
Completes reports for employee activity, inventory control and equipment and vehicle maintenance
Monitors SCADA system
Supervises and assists in the setup of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) when required
Temporarily fills in for Field Operations Manager in their absence
Qualification
Required
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
Four year's City water and sewer experience; or 4 years general w/s operations experience; or 4 years plumbing installation experience; or 4 years underground utilities construction experience; or any combination thereof
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B CDL
Must possess and keep current a State of Florida, Class 2 Water Distribution System Operator's Certificate
Must possess and keep current a State of Florida Department of Transportation Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certificate
Ability to perform strenuous manual labor
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete daily work orders
Ability to safely and efficiently operate small hand and power tools, chain saws, cut saws, handheld compactors, pumps, ventilator and sewer cleaning machine
Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as the front-end loader, backhoe, excavator and roller
Ability to communicate efficiently and courteously both in person, over the telephone and through written correspondence
Ability to keep accurate records and resolve problems found on work orders
Ability to be punctual and regular in attendance
Ability to supervise to field employees
Ability to use independent judgement
Ability to respond and change priorities to meet service demands and emergencies
Ability to work effectively with all city departments, other governmental agencies, and vendors
Ability to safely handle chemicals related to water line construction
Knowledge of water and sewer fittings and the proper installation of these fittings
Knowledge of the City's streets and their layout and the addressing system used by the city
Knowledge of materials and meters used in the maintenance, testing, repair of water meter service lines
Knowledge of sewage pumping station repair and maintenance including electrical system troubleshooting and repair
Knowledge of the mechanical operation and repair of tools and equipment
