Diesel Truck Technician - West Texas

Responsibilities

Maintain service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles and heavy trucks
Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel trucks and trailers: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, AC, air brakes, lights, horn, lift and install heavy components and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies, etc
Ability to utilized a variety of diagnostic software to identify issues
Experience with fuel pump equipment and hoses
Familiar with DOT and other rules and regulations as pertained to vehicle maintenance and compliance
Ability to keep a clean and safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards
Ability to maintain communication with drivers and management regarding maintenance and service of vehicles and equipment
Accurately record all maintenance activity on company documentation
Monitor Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) for commercial vehicles (Tractor Trailer, Bobtail, Fuel Trailer and Pick-up Trucks)
Perform all purchasing functions, such as issuing purchase orders (PO’s), etc

Required

High School diploma or GED required
Valid driver's license
Satisfactorily pass a drug, alcohol and background check
Pass a DOT physical or 'Fit for Duty' physical exam
Must be insurable to drive company vehicles
Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to speak, write and read the English language
Ability to handle the daily physical requirements of the work
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods of time while performing maintenance and repairs
Must possess sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to safely use hand and power tools
Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including lying on back or side, working in cramped or elevated areas, and reaching overhead
Must be able to visually inspect parts and equipment, including the ability to differentiate colors and detect fluid leaks
Must be able to tolerate exposure to varying weather conditions, fumes, noise, and dust commonly found in a maintenance shop or field environment
Must be able to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors, both verbally and in writing

Preferred

Experienced mechanic with strong background in diesel maintenance
