Responsibilities
Operate, test, inspect, and maintain all machinery and mechanical equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, air handling units, circulating pumps, exhaust fans, and electrical relays and controls, and hand and power tools
Monitor operation and performance of computerized facility systems
Help maintain grounds
Wear PBC shift operator cell phone at all times while on duty and report incidents, malfunctions, breakdowns and other significant events to designated supervisor or emergency personnel in prompt and timely fashion
Work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays; and serve on-call as assigned
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Trade school certificate in building trades or related field desirable
Demonstrated knowledge, ability and/or experience in the fields of mechanics, repair, and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read, interpret, and comply with technical, procedural and operation manuals and follow work safety standards and practices
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, technical and maintenance instructions, plans, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate with foreman and fellow employees
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Regular attendance is a requirement
The employee must occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and frequently move up to 100 pounds
Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by the start of employment, and acceptable driving record
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Must be available to be on-call and respond timely after hours when designated, and in the event of recall for weather related events and emergencies
