Lead Electrical Design Engineer

High Power Products, LLC is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role involves leading the electrical design process for switchgear projects, ensuring compliance with standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Electrical & Electronic Manufacturing

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain single-line, three-line, and control/wiring diagrams for custom switchgear projects
Lead the electrical design process from customer specifications through manufacturing release
Configure and program protection relays (e.g., SEL, ABB, Siemens, Schneider)
Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using industry-standard software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
Collaborate with mechanical, production, and project management teams to ensure timely and accurate project execution
Review and approve all electrical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with UL, ANSI, IEEE, and NEC standards
Provide technical support during production, testing, and field startup phases
Mentor junior engineers and drafters in design practices and standards
Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, technologies, and best practices in power system design

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in switchgear, power distribution, or industrial electrical design
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
Experience with relay programming, protective coordination, and arc flash analysis tools
Strong understanding of UL891, UL1558, ANSI C37, and IEEE standards
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
